SMS-Passcodes ("the Service") is a private, personal, non-commercial hobby project operated by Brendon Lucas ("the Operator") as a free convenience for a small, pre-authorized group of individuals. The Service is not offered to the general public, generates no revenue, and has no commercial purpose.
Use of the Service is limited to individuals who are:
No one else is authorized to use the Service. Access is granted exclusively by the Operator on a per-person basis by adding a specific phone number to an internal allowlist. Messages from any number not on this allowlist are ignored.
By using the Service, you agree to the following responsibilities:
You agree to immediately notify the Operator if you observe any suspicious activity related to the Service, including but not limited to: unexpected messages from the Service, messages you did not request, indications that your phone may have been accessed by another person, or any concern that your credentials may have been exposed.
You agree to delete every message exchanged with the Service — both your outgoing requests and the credential replies you receive — promptly after retrieving and using your login credentials. Retaining credential messages on your device increases the risk of exposure if the device is lost, stolen, or accessed by another person. This is a core condition of using the Service.
You agree to keep your mobile device secured with a screen lock (PIN, password, or biometric) and to treat access to your device as equivalent to access to the credentials the Service can deliver.
Opt-in: You are added to the Service only after direct personal conversation with the Operator, in which you agree to these Terms.
Opt-out: You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message from the Service, or by contacting the Operator directly. Upon opt-out, your phone number is removed from the allowlist immediately, and no further messages will be sent to that number. Replying HELP returns contact information for the Operator.
The Service only responds to inbound messages initiated by you; it does not send unsolicited or scheduled messages. Frequency is entirely user-driven and typically low (0–10 messages per month).
The Service is provided free of charge. Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply.
You agree not to:
You acknowledge that SMS is not an encrypted transport, and that anyone with physical access to your unlocked device could retrieve credentials by using the Service. The Service is intended only for low-sensitivity credentials (household streaming primarily) and must not be used to store or retrieve high-value credentials such as banking, healthcare, or identity documents.
The Service is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. The Operator makes no guarantees regarding availability, accuracy, timeliness, or fitness for any particular purpose, and may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Operator is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of or inability to use the Service, including loss of access to third-party accounts or credential exposure resulting from device compromise.
The Operator may remove any user from the allowlist at any time, for any reason, without notice. You may terminate your own access at any time as described in Section 4.
Because the Service has a small, personally-known user base, changes to these Terms will be communicated directly to authorized users. The current version is always available at this URL.
